Elisa Laurenti is currently Professor of Stem Cells and Haematopoiesis at the Department of Haematology of the University of Cambridge and the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute. Her research has been dedicated to the study of hematopoietic stem cells since her PhD. She established her laboratory in 2014. By using single cell technologies, both -omics and functional assays, her team aims to understand how hematopoietic stem cells and progenitor cell function changes over a human lifetime to eventually improve treatment of blood diseases. Another area of interest is the characterisation of the molecular regulation of quiescence and its relevance to hematopoietic stem cell ex vivo expansion and gene therapy.
