Kyoko Miura, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Aging and Longevity Research at the Faculty of Life Sciences, Kumamoto University. She earned her Ph.D. through her studies on the variation in the safety of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells and the treatment of spinal cord injury model mice using iPS cell-derived neural/stem progenitor cells, under the supervision of Dr. Shinya Yamanaka and Dr. Hideyuki Okano. Her current research focuses specifically on the mechanisms of cancer resistance and aging resistance in the naked mole-rat, the longest-lived rodent. Her hobby is growing vegetables.
