Hubrecht Institute, Netherlands
Eva van Rooij is group leader at the Hubrecht Institute and professor of Molecular Cardiology at the University Medical Center Utrecht. She is an expert in molecular cardiology and in identifying novel therapeutic strategies for patients suffering from heart disease. Her current work focusses on defining molecular pathways relevant for disease progression in cardiomyopathy. In her current work she combines high-end sequencing technologies, stem cell trechnologies, mouse genetics, animal models of heart disease, gene editing and molecular biology to identify the important pathways for cardiac remodeling and repair and explore new therapeutic strategies for genetic heart disease.
