Henri Jasper is a Principal Fellow and Director at Genentech Inc. in South San Francisco. He obtained a diploma in biochemistry from the University of Tübingen (Germany) in 1999 and his PhD from the University of Heidelberg/EMBL (Germany) in 2002. In his lab at the University of Rochester (2003-2012) and the Buck Institute (2012-2017) he explored mechanisms of stress response and aging in tissue stem cells. In 2017 he was recruited to Genentech, where he oversees regenerative medicine efforts and has established a department exploring the use of in vivo reprogramming and cell therapies as strategies to target degenerative diseases of the lung, intestine and eye.
