Thomas Hutschalik is a biomedical engineer (M.Sc.), who is pursuing his PhD work at the stem cell focused biotech company Ncardia and Maastricht University. His EU-funded research focuses on human induced pluripotent stem cell based disease models of atrial fibrillation and is part of the international research network PersonalizAF. Thomas' work uses 2D and 3D coculture models of atrial cardiomyocytes, macrophages and cardiac fibroblasts to investigate the interplay of inflammatrion and cardiac arrhythmia. His work has been rewarded, among other honors, as the winner of the MSCA Pitch Competition and with a poster price of the ISHR World Congress, .
