Wolfram-Hubertus Zimmermann, MD - Professor and Director, Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University Medical Center Göttingen. Research interests: (1) stem cell-based tissue engineered therapeutics for organ repair (Heart, Skeletal Muscle, Brain); (2) therapeutic genome editing (muscular dystrophies, cardiomyopathies); (3) human engineered tissue and organoids for disease modelling and drug discovery. We develop platform technologies for stem cell banking, propagation, differentiation, and maturation of their progeny under biomimetic conditions; we make use of cell painting and optogenetic tools to light up and control cellular processes; we establish processes according to regulatory demands to facilitate translation. Research resulted in the spin-out of several biotech companies, e.g.: (1) myriamed - drug discovery, (2) Repairon - tissue engineered heart repair, (3) MyriaMeat - engineering of edible meat .
