Ph.D. in molecular medicine at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan, Michela contributed to the advancement of gene therapy for hemophilia, lentiviral vector engineering and to the understanding of the biology of putative liver stem cells at the San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy (Milan, Italy).
Recipient of multiple international awards such as the “Student and Fellow Award for Excellence in Research” issued by the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy, the "Under40 in hematology" issued by the Italian society of hematology and selected for the Roche continents programme as one of the top 100 science students. Currently, she is leading a new research line to enable in vivo gene transfer to hematopoietic stem cells in the early post-natal life.
