Dr. Rachel Steeg, holds a PhD in Neuroscience & Stem Cell Biology with a research background in the pluripotency and neural differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells. She joined the European Bank for induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (EBiSC) in 2014 working to establish quality control testing and associated procedures to screen and standardise high numbers of iPSC lines from diverse sources and has since led multiple aspects of biobank coordination and repository management including ethical and legal governance, integration of new assays and technologies, database development and data management. Dr. Steeg currently oversees all aspects of the EBiSC in her role as Head of EBiSC. Critically this includes engaging with iPSC research groups internationally to understand their needs and to support them in meeting their own sustainability goals such as the deposition of iPSC lines and data into EBiSC for storage and sharing with other researchers. Additionally, she continues to oversee scientific developments in the fields of iPSC banking, upscaling, differentiation and cell line qualification.
