SIFBI, A*STAR / ImpacFat, Singapore
Shigeki Sugii leads the Platform of Fat Metabolism and Stem Cells at Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI), A*STAR. Prior to the current position, Shigeki was Principal Investigator / Group Leader at different institutes of A*STAR (2011-2023), before joining SIFBI. Shigeki graduated with B.S. in Agricultural Chemistry from Kyoto University, Japan and received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Dartmouth School of Medicine, USA. He then conducted his postdoctoral research with Prof. Ronald Evans at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and Howard Hughes Medical Institute, USA. His current research interests are novel antimicrobial peptides secreted by differentiating adipose-derived stem cells and cultivated adipocytes sourced from novel edible fish cell lines. He is also a founder of ImpacFat in Singapore.
