Ábel Vértesy is a bioinformatician and biologist specializing in brain organoids, single-cell biology and data-driven science. Ábel studied systems biology at the University of Heidelberg. He obtained his Ph.D. on single cell transcriptomics from the Hubrecht Institute in the Netherlands, under the supervision of Prof. Alexander van Oudenaarden. Currently, Ábel is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the laboratory of Prof. Juergen Knoblich. at IMBA, the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology Austria, where he leads a project on neural connectivity mapping in brain organoids. Previously worked as data analyst on various organoid projects, such as: cellular stress, tuberous sclerosis disease modeling, and autism screen. His open-source R packages are availble at github.com/vertesy, and his publications at orcid.org/0000-0001-6075-5702.
