Hideyuki Okano, a prominent expert in regenerative medicine, received his M.D. from Keio University in 1983 and his Ph.D. in 1988. After a postdoctoral period at Johns Hopkins University, he held professorships at Tsukuba University, Osaka University, and Keio University. He served as Dean of Keio University's School of Medicine from 2007 to 2021 and became a Visiting Professor at MIT in 2022. Currently, he directs Keio University's Regenerative Medicine Research Center. His research focuses on neural stem cells, iPS cells, and spinal cord injury treatment, contributing to advances in neurological disorders. He has received multiple awards, including the Medal with Purple Ribbon. He is currently the President of The Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine and the President-elect of ISSCR.
