Dr. Wu's work has contributed to the development of novel culture systems that enable the generation of new PSCs for basic and translational studies. He has expanded the spectrum of pluripotent states by capturing PSCs with distinct molecular and phenotypic features from different developmental stages and from different species. In addition, Dr. Wu has identified cell competition as a barrier to interspecies chimerism and developed a versatile blastocyst complementation system for in vivo generation of functional tissues and organs from PSCs and stem cell derived integrated embryo models.
