I am curious about fundamental developmental processes and host-pathogen interactions. Many differences between different populations (human population, animal breeds, etc.) stem from different (epi-)genetic backgrounds that alter cell-intrinsic behaviour like gene expression or migration. Having worked with intestinal organoids regarding the interactionn of bacterial toxins with the host epithelium, cell polarity is of particular interest for me. Especially apical-out organoids, how organoids switch their polarity and why they stop proliferating after doing so is a very intriguing question.
